Hypnosis as a tool for rehabilitation was approved by the American Medical Association in 1958 and since then has been use to help people stop smoking, lose weight, reduce pain, end procrastination, manage stress, increase self-esteem, overcome fear, and generally take control over their lives. Hypnosis used to be induced by psychologists, psychiatrists, or hypnotherapists through hypnosis sessions. These sessions range from one to ten days depending on the effect it has on patients, and would last about 20 minutes a to an hour per session. Hypnosis sessions were not that affordable however, since patients would have to pay hypnotherapists every session. Hypnosis sessions were then made affordable through hypnosis CDs and audio tapes that recorded actual hypnosis sessions by psychologists or hypnotherapists.
Hypnosis CDs are just as effective as live sessions, given that you listen to it in a room where there is no disturbance and you are in a relaxed position. In some cases, the hypnosis CD can be more effective than a live session because you are more likely to allow yourself to lose your inhibitions in the privacy of your own home. The key is that you trust in the hypnosis CD and in what it is saying. You have to follow the steps carefully and free your mind of any worries or thoughts. It is also important that you buy a hypnosis CD that was created by premier psychologist that is an expert in that particular program. A well known and attested psychologist is ideal. The advantage of hypnosis CDs is that it doesn't cost you any dollar more every session.
